Cornish & Carey Commercial opened in 1935 in downtown Palo Alto during the height of the depression. Two young Stanford graduates, George E. (Pat) Carey and Herbert J. Cornish started what was to become Northern California's largest locally owned real estate firm serving both commercial and residential properties.
Through the years, C&C's history has closely paralleled that of Silicon Valley. Soon after the Palo Alto office was opened, David Packard and Bill Hewlett founded Hewlett Packard, while Russell and Sigmund Varian founded Varian Associates. Silicon Valley, the high technology center of the world, had begun. From the beginning, C&C was there to assist these firms in finding homes for their employees, and shops and offices for the design and manufacture of their products.
C&C grew from one small office in downtown Palo Alto to more than 200 agents
strategically located in ten offices in Northern California. In 1991, as
our clients grew and expanded into new markets, C&C forged a relationship
with ONCOR International to service our clients globally. Today our strength
and dominance in the commercial market continues to professionally serve
the real estate needs of Northern California corporations and institutions
as well as national and international companies.
In 2007, we:
- Leased over 21,719,469 square feet
- Sold over 13,844,955 square feet
- Completed $3,697,987,593 in transactions
- Closed over 2,628 transactions
